What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Fort Myers always writes about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, as mentioned on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified through NATE. The certification is voluntary and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Service Experts that our team is NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and professional technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these standards, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only certain areas applicable to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may earn installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
